Method Statement

Method Statements

What is a Method Statement?
A work method statement, sometimes called a “safe system of work” is a document that details the way a work task or process is to be completed. The method statement should outline the hazards involved and include a step by step guide on how to do the job safely. The method statement must also detail which control measures have been introduced to ensure the safety of anyone who is affected by the task or process.

Why do you need a Method Statement?
Method statements are required by many clients and main contractors who will not allow you to start works until you have prepared and provided them with a copy of your method statements. Clients and contractors will no longer accept any old risk assessment or method statement; they must be relevant and specific to the works that you are carrying out and address all of the risks and hazards associated with the work.

How can we help you?
A GHSS Safety consultant will visit your place of work and analyse your requirements for a method statement. We can develop your method statement or work in conjunction with your company in preparing company method statement templates.
